If your student information system (SIS) is integrated with SameGoal, student information (Basics and Details tabs in SameGoal) will be automatically updated nightly. If you find a student's information is incorrect in SameGoal, correct the information in your SIS. After the nightly integration runs, you will see the information updated in SameGoal the following morning. Avoid changing information in SameGoal directly, since the changed information will be overwritten within 24 hours by the integration. The SIS is considered the "master" source of student information when the two systems are integrated.

Update SIS Student ID

It is important to enter the correct SIS Student ID. Cases when you should update this field include:

  • You realize the current number entered for the student is wrong
  • The student was previously given a temporary ID (eg. student was PK) and is now about to enroll (and you know what the student's new ID will be)

  1. Visit Students / create new in the left menu.
  2. Search for the student you wish to update.
  3. Visit the Basics tab.
  4. Next to the current SIS Student ID, click the change link.
  5. Enter the New SIS Student ID.
  6. Click Save.

Update Student Basics

The Basics tab for a student contains information used on list pages (student first and last name), print SIS Student ID (printed in documents), and building (used for determining user access when user groups are in place).

  1. Visit Students / create new in the left menu.
  2. Search for the student you wish to update.
  3. Visit the Basics tab.
  4. Update the relevant information.
  5. Click Save.

Update Student Details (prefill/copy information)

The student information which copies into documents is found on the student Details tab. If no information is entered, none will be available for document prefill/copying.

  1. Visit Students / create new in the left menu.
  2. Search for the student you wish to update.
  3. Visit the Details tab.
  4. Update the relevant information. Information will autosave.
  5. Visit any documents which should be updated with the new student and/or parent information. At the top of each section that copies in student and/or parent information, you should find a button most commonly labeled Update Student/Parent Info. Click the button to update information.

lightbulb_outline TIP
Simply updating the Details tab for a given student will NOT automatically update any existing documents by design (so-as to not overwrite intentional changes/additions in the documents, or overwrite historical documents). However, the next time a document is created for the given student, the newly updated information will be used as the prefill information.

assignment_turned_in TRY IT OUT

  1. Update the SIS Student ID for the student you created (ie Test Student). Tip: If you have not added Test Student go to the adding students support page and visit the Try It Out section at the bottom of the page.
  2. Update the Test Student's Details tab with made up address information.
  3. Visit a document (eg IEP) for Test Student and update their demographic information. Verify the made up address has populated.
